TRAFFIC AND TOIL THWART iSPORT DUO IN TURKEY

Istanbul Park is one of the most challenging venues on the GP2 Series calendar – and Turkey’s only Formula One-standard circuit certainly caught out a number of drivers during qualifying for the third race of the 2008 campaign. iSport team-mates Bruno Senna and Karun Chandhok successfully steered clear of trouble, but factors beyond their control prevented either driver showing his full potential.

Bruno Senna
“The traffic was simply horrendous throughout today’s session and it was almost impossible to find a clear gap. The car basically felt good, although we need to study the data before we decide what changes, if any, need to be made. I would obviously prefer to be a little further forward, to avoid any of the potential pitfalls at the first corner, but our tyres looked in good shape at the end of today’s session and that is always a promising sign. I’m confident we have a very good car for the race.”

Karun Chandhok
“As Bruno says, it was very busy out there. I know there were only 26 cars, as usual, but all of them constantly seemed to be in my way! Analysing my best sector times it’s clear that I could have been at least four tenths quicker, perhaps more, but it just wasn’t to be. My last two laps should have been quick, but Milos Pavlovic spun in front of me on the first of them and then I was right behind Davide Velsecchi when he crashed. I also lost count of the number of times some idiot would simply back off in front of me in the middle of Turn Eight… The car is good but, once again, the lap times don’t show it.”
